The Sychpwll Centre is a unique events venue in Powys, Mid Wales. We offer groups and organisations a natural, eco-friendly and creative space in which to come together. The peaceful environment is perfect for workshops, training courses, group gatherings, weddings and various other types of venue hire. Our rural setting within 10 acres offers a place of beauty that allows visitors to be relaxed and inspired.

Sychpwll allows people a unique experience to work, sleep and eat together in a setting where the eco friendly building blends into the natural beauty of the surroundings. Because we are a sustainable, leave no trace venue we ask our guests to share these values whilst staying with us.
Sychpwll is available all year round for part or exclusive venue hire and we can customise packages to suit your needs. Our straw-bale barn and pole barn offer a variety of options for group space, with catering, accommodation and camping also available. The venue can be hired by the day, weekend, or by the week. Good rates can be negotiated for off peak weekends or midweek bookings, offering groups the ability to design their own package to suit their budget. Our affordable and competitive hire packages offer flexibility to suit your requirements and the size of your group, with or without food and accommodation.

More about our venue
We have various options when it comes to work spaces and accommodation for holding your gathering. We can easily provide inside work space for up to around 30 plus people and accommodation for 30, along with a large camping area. Whether wishing to hire our whole site or just part of it, our various spaces offer the flexibility to suit your needs. We can provide spaces for a range of groups, from 10 people on an arts and crafts course to 150 plus people at a conference or celebration. As well as our group work shop spaces, communal kitchen, accommodation, camping meadows and showers and toilets, we can arrange marquees and catering to suit the needs of your group.
Visitors are welcome to explore the 7 acres of wildflower meadow, wildlife corridor and river running along the boundary of the site. Whilst exploring the grounds our guests will find various areas with seating to relax and take in the surroundings. We have fire pits, canoes and a play area for children, all of which are available for our guests to use.
Exploring the local area
We are within 30 minutes of the market towns of Shrewsbury, Welshpool and Oswestry, around seven miles from each, and there are plenty of days out at local attractions such as historic Powis Castle and the Welshpool to Llanfair Light Steam Railway.
Sychypwll is a great spot for walking, with a footpath running along the top of the argae, and Offa’s Dyke close by. The Montgomery Canal Towpath is also close by, a beautiful conservation area. If you feel energetic, Breidden Hill is close by and a walk up Rodneys’ Pillar offers a challenge, from where you can enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.
The River Vyrnwy is very popular with kayakers and canoeists, suited for experienced and novice paddlers alike. The upper reaches of the river has grade two and three white water sections, with much calmer grade one waters lower down the river around Sychpwll. We have canoes for our guests to use and we’re able to arrange further canoe and equipment hire for those interested. For larger groups we can organise instruction.
The quiet lanes around Sychpwll are perfect for cyclists so and we are also located very close to national cycle route 81 which connects Aberystwyth and Wolverhampton. We have areas for cycle storage and are able to arrange cycle hire for those interested.
Llanymynech Quarry is a short drive away and there are many other climbing options for those wishing to go a little further. For larger groups we are able to arrange transport and instructors.
Wildlife is in abundance in and around Sychpwll with over 120 varieties of birds. These include sparrow hawks, woodpeckers, barn owls, great crested tits, swans and turtle doves. We also regularly see otters, badgers and foxes. Visitors are free to take a stroll down around the wildflower meadows and wildlife corridor. The 200 metre natural corridor separates the two and five acre meadows at Sychpwll, opening out to a space that people can sit to observe the surrounding countryside.

For those looking for eating out and nightlife, there are numerous country pubs offering good food and drink close by and busy towns a little further.
Catering and Hospitality
There are a number of kitchens for self catering and we have a charcoal barbecue for our guests to use.
For those requiring catering we offer a variety of options to suit various diets. Where possible we try to use food that is home grown within our organic gardens and poly tunnel.
We are also able to recommend local suppliers to fit your needs ranging from marquee hire to bar services. As a result you will save time, money and peace of mind, knowing that our suppliers come recommended.
We encourage people to view the centre before committing to venue hire. During this visit we can show you around and discuss your requirements.
A deposit of 50% secures the booking with the balance being payable within eight weeks of the event. If booking within eight weeks of the event, a full fee will need to be paid upfront.
